Phillip Neuberger, MD - Chief Medical Director & Child Psychiatry
Dr. Phillip Neuberger was born and raised in Michigan. He obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University in 1996. He completed his Residency in Adult Psychiatry as well as his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Florida in 2001. Dr. Neuberger is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry as well as in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Alaska Psychiatric Association, and the Alaska State Medical Association.
In 2001 Dr. Neuberger moved to Alaska with his wife Jennifer. He worked at Good Samaritan Counseling Center as Medical and Clinical Director for three years. In 2005, Dr. Neuberger formed Behavioral Medicine of Alaska which has evolved into a full-service clinic providing psychiatric care as well as psychotherapy. He is an expert in diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, anxiety, and Tourette's. His golden retriever, Emma, goes to work with him everyday. She plays an integral role in helping children to feel comfortable and helps facilitate their communication.
Eileen Ha, MD - Adult Psychiatry
Dr. Eileen Ha was born and raised in California. She received her BS in Psychology in 1994 and her medical degree in 1999 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Ha began her psychiatry residency at the University of Hawaii and completed her training at the University of Washington. Dr. Ha is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Alaska Psychiatric Association and the Alaska State Medical Association.
Dr. Ha came to Alaska in 2002 via the WAMI program as a fourth year resident rotating through various clinical rotations at Providence, the Alaska Native Medical Center, the Crisis Treatment Center, and the Department of Corrections. In 2003, Dr. Ha accepted her first position at Southcentral Foundation where she worked at the Primary Care Center. She then joined the Providence PBMG North Clinic from 2004 to 2006.
Dr. Ha has been with Behavioral Medicine of Alaska since December 2006. She provides outpatient diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy for adults (18 years and older). Dr. Ha specializes in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as ADHD, women's mental health issues, and psychosomatic disorders. Dr. Ha's poodle, Willow, specializes in tail wagging and napping-a comforting presence that is good for the soul.
Kathleen Dowling, RN, MS, CNS, ANP - Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Kathleen has practiced in the mental health field in Alaska for twenty years. She maintains two national clinical specializations in Mental Health Nursing and is an active member of the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association. For the past six years her clinical focus has been children and adolescents. Her areas of specialty at Behavioral Medicine of Alaska include Psychiatric Evaluation and Pharmacotherapy of psychiatric disorders in children, teens, and adults. She has provided mental health services in a wide range of settings from private practice clinics, community mental health centers, correctional programs, to hospitalized patients.
On a personal note, Kathleen is an accomplished organic gardener-last year her garden was featured in the Secret Garden Tour of Anchorage.
Jennifer Burkholder, MS, LPC, NCC - Professional Counselor
Jennifer Burkholder is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She earned a master's degree in counseling psychology from Alaska Pacific University and a BA in Human Services from Western Washington University. Born and raised in Anchorage, she has gained many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Adolescents and teen populations have been Jennifer's clinical focus for the last 10 years. Besides the typical and nontypical developmental growth of adolescents and teenagers, Jennifer has chosen to focus on easing the pain of grief and/or death/dying associated with the loss of a loved one.
In 2002, she published "Whirlwind: An Adolescent's Journey through the Grief Process" and since then, has been implementing its use during her therapy sessions with her clients. Jennifer is one of five governor appointed State of Alaska board members for Licensed Professional Counselors.
